Following the incessant robbery attack on the ancient town of Ikare
Akoko, the Ondo State Police Command has taken delivery of 9 Patrol
Vehicles donated by the Synagogue Church of All Nations.
It could
be recalled that a gang of armed robbers invaded the area killing at
least 21 people, including eight policemen, one undergraduate, two
secondary school pupils and five bankers.
Donating the Patrol
vehicles to the police command, the Founder of the Synagogue Church of
All Nations, Prophet Temitope Joshua sympathized with the command and
the family of those that lost their lives during robbery attack at Ikare
Akoko recently.
The cleric who put the cost of the vehicles at N215 million during a
brief ceremony at the headquarters of the Ondo Police Command where he
handed them over to beneficiary heads of formations, said the gesture
was aimed at reducing crime rates in Akoko Area of the state.
He
said the people of the area cried to God for help which prompted him as a
son of the soil and man of God to donate the vehicles and renovated the
damaged Police Station during the attack to further encourage the men
of the command.
Joshua
who was represented by Mr. Mayowa Oluwayomi promised to fast track the
completion and installation of communication gadget across police
divisions in Akoko land to be able to connect the area directly with the
Command Headquarters in Akure, the state capital.
Speaking on
behalf of the tradition rulers of the area, the Olubaka of Oka Land, Oba
Adebori Adeleye thanked him for the kind gesture and urged the
prominent sons and daughter of the area to emulate Pastor T.B Joshua.
Oba Adeleye noted that apart from the unfortunate robbery incident
that occurred recently in the area, Ondo State had been relatively
peaceful since assumption of office the present Police boss in the
State.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the command, the Police
Commissioner, Mr. Isaac Eke appreciated him for the provision and urged
the prominent sons and daughters of the state to rally round the
command so as to stamp out crime and criminality across the state.
Eke stated that the gesture would again boost their morale in the command to further discharge their duty effectively.
He
said “if this kind gesture is coming now from religions background, it
is a sign of good thing to come and at the same time a challenge to
others to emulate him”.
