Vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has warned Nigerians to be wary of plan to use religion to hoodwink them into voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying let no one think he can protect corruption in the guise of protecting his religion.
Professor Osinbajo, who gave the warning in Jos, Plateau State, during an interactive session with the state Christian leaders, said let no one pretend that he is championing a Christian course by supporting PDP-led government.
He debunked the notion that the presidential candidate of APC is a fanatic, whose sole aim of seeking for the governance of the country is to Islamise it and spread Sharia to all the nook and crannies of Nigeria, adding that the statement was just a ploy by the PDP-led government and their cronies to tarnish his image.

“This is just a campaign of calumny against him. He has never been a fanatic and never said Sharia would be introduced all over the country and he had, at different occasions, challenged his antagonists in this regard to proof their allegation and show him where and when he made such pronouncement, which none of them have been able to prove.
“I am a legal luminary and I know what it takes to achieve this, no plan or room to Islamise or Christianise this country. For us to achieve this as a leader, you must amend the constitution, it can only be done through the 80 per cent of the National Assembly and 2/3 of all the states House of assembly in the country.
“They don’t like General Buhari because they don’t want to be held accountable for their deeds. What the country needs at this moment is the understanding that the country belong to all while our relationship should be on the basis of justice. Also to ensure that every person of any faith live everywhere and to ensure that peace reign supreme” he said
He said insurgency is raging in the country, especially in the North East , because the government did not pay much attention to what it need to pay attention to, adding that the insurgency also continue to fester because of corruption.
On the issue of State Police, Professor Osibanjo said the country needs this at this critical time to address some of the security challenges facing it at different level ,adding the state police will complement federal police and the former would have proper knowledge of community better than the federal police.
