Liverpool fan in £4,000 payout over Old Trafford toilet row

BBC

A Liverpool supporter has received £4,000 after allegedly settling a false arrest claim sparked by a row over fans being allowed access to the toilet.
Kieth Culvin sued Greater Manchester Police (GMP) over his arrest for allegedly assaulting an officer after a match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford in 2013.
The Spirit of Shankly committee member said he regularly negotiated with police before matches.
A GMP spokesman declined to comment.
Details of the case have been released by the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF), which helped Mr Culvin in his legal action.
Mr Culvin said he was among a Spirit of Shankly deputation which agreed with GMP that fans would be allowed access to toilets when they were kept behind at the stadium after the match had finished.
But, on the day of the game, he alleged he had to intervene when officers inside the ground did not appear to be keeping to the agreement.

FBI Warns of ISIS-Inspired Cyber Attacks on 9/11 Anniversary

From ABC News
The FBI is warning that an ISIS-inspired group of hackers is threatening to mark today’s anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks with a new cyber-assault against U.S. government-related websites.
Twitter users claiming to be associated with the group, branding themselves with the "hashtag" moniker #AmericaUnderHacks, have already been posting online what they say is sensitive information about U.S. government personnel. But the information is available through basic Internet searches and is "recycled" from several years ago, sources told ABC News.
Nevertheless, the FBI wants companies doing business with the U.S. government to be able to defend their networks should hackers try to "commemorate the anniversary of the terrorist attacks" with more serious action, according to a "private industry notification" issued Thursday citing the recent threats.
“Will penetrate … governmental sites in September 11 to commemorate the destroyed skyscrapers,” threatened one recent tweet from the ISIS-inspired group of hackers, who call themselves the “Islamic Cyber Army.”

Journalists in Akwa-Ibom vow not to give Police coverage if…

The cordial relationship between the Nigeria Police and the media in Akwa Ibom State, was strained, yesterday, with the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Cordelia Nwawe, walking journalists who were invited to cover the parade of suspected hoodlums out of her office.
The journalists who were miffed by the PPRO’s action, reminded her of her position as the mirror of the Nigeria Police Force .  The visibly enraged PPRO, claimed that the journalists were trying to dictate to her on how to run her office and as such, ordered them to leave her office immediately or face unpleasant consequences.  It was gathered that since Nwawe took over the office of the state’s PPRO in March this year, the cordial relationship between the newsmen and her office has turned sour.

ISIS uses images of drowned toddler to warn refugees

The jihadist Islamic State group has used the shocking image of drowned Syrian toddler Aylan Kurdi to warn refugees against trying to flee to the West, calling it a “major sin”.
Three-year-old Aylan’s body was photographed lying in the sand in Bodrum, Turkey after he drowned in a boat accident while his family tried to reach Greece — an image that helped to focus international attention on the plight of refugees.
In the latest issue of its English-language magazine Dabiq, IS published the boy’s image under the headline: “The danger of Abandoning Darul-Islam,” or the land of Islam, including the group’s self-declared “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq.

New human-like species discovered in South Africa

From BBC

Scientists have discovered a new human-like species in a burial chamber deep under a cave in South Africa.
The discovery of 15 partial skeletons is the largest single discovery of its type in Africa.
The researchers claim that the discovery will change ideas about our human ancestors.
The studies which have been published in the journal Elife also indicate that these individuals were capable of ritual behaviour.
The species which has been named naledi has been classified in the grouping, or genus, Homo to which modern humans belong.
The researchers who made the find have not been able to find out how long ago these creatures lived - but the scientist who led the team, Prof Lee Berger, told BBC News that he believed they could be among the first of our kind (genus Homo) and could have lived in Africa up to three million years ago.

Throwback Pic of 2face, Faze and Blackfaze - Plantashun Boiz

Back when some of us music lovers used to dub sweet music on cassettes, just so we can enjoy and pay much more attention to lyrical content, Nigeria's favorite boy band, Plantashun Boiz, emerged easy fan favorites.

With easy to decipher lyrics and melodies that transcended time, the trio of TuFace, Faze and Black Faze converted fans to slaves of a blend of R&B/Afro Pop that only they could distinctively deliver.

Signed to Dove Records at the time, the Plantashun Boiz serenaded fans with one of the best love songs that ruled the airwaves in the early 2000's.

My father raped his daughter, and I am their baby (story)

Hi readers,

I am sharing my story for every girl who lives in silence, and for every person to understand that all life has value and is worthy of protection.
I was conceived in father/daughter rape-incest. My mother, Becca, was molested by her father throughout her childhood and was 15 when I was born. She was offered an abortion by a doctor who had asked her if she had been a "bad girl," to which she responded that she had not, because she really had no understanding of what her father had been doing to her.
This doctor completely failed to help her break free from the molestation. In fact, Child Protective Services also failed to protect my mom, even though they were called by the school authorities, and while at school my mom told them what was happening. Nevertheless, they ultimately sent her home to be abused for several more years.

Buhari’s 100 days and invasion of Akwa Ibom Govt House: My Position - Ayo Fayose

Governor of Ekiti state Ayo Fayose writes below... (must read)

President Mohammadu Buhari’s government is now 100 days and even though I align with most Nigerians, who opined that 100 days is too short in the life of a government, it is important to make some clarifications as regarding the administration. This is more so that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and some political jobbers that are looking for appointments are praising the President, citing imaginary achievements.
As at today, the only achievement recorded by the President Buhari’s government is the harassment of leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those perceived as not on the same political page with the president in his party.

Health: Painkillers are drugs, not sweets!

The way some people pop painkillers seem to suggest that the drugs are candies with another name! It is such that many people don’t even consider the fact that they need to see a doctor or, at least, a pharmacist, to complain about whatever pain they may be feeling.
Consequently, by the time many people finally think of seeking medical help, they are almost ready for the morgue.
Perhaps after sleeping pills, the next commonest drug of abuse is pain relief medication. People take pain medications for the relief of pain in various parts of the body and also for various health challenges. Many people are even unaware that certain pain medications are better suited for certain ailments and are therefore better prescribed by a competent professional, who will also monitor the effects, especially when such drugs are to be used for extended period, as in the treatment of chronic pain conditions like arthritis, cancer, etc.

Photos: Ex Militants Submitted 84 guns + Other weapons to the Govt in Benue State

A notorious but repentant ex-militant known as Agwaza in Benue State has denounced militancy to embrace the amnesty programme offered by the state governor.  Agwaza’s decision to quit criminality was in response to a two-month deadline declared by the present administration which allowed possessors of illegal weapons in the state to surrender them to the government.   Speaking at the handover of 84 assorted calibre weapons, which was performed in the presence of the state Commissioner of Police and other members of the state security council, the alleged militia said the land dispute between Benue and Taraba States led to the formation of his group.  “My neigbours were overran severally by the enemies from Taraba State, It was as a result of the unfortunate incidents that I was made the head of a local militia to check the attacks on our communities.”  Agwaza, who acknowledged the importance of the government’s amnesty programme, pledged his support for the programme just as he sought a peaceful resolution of the lingering border disputes between the two states"

Nigerian President or King of the North? by Femi Fani Kayode

As written by Femi Fani Kayode
"In 418 B.C. Herodotus, the Greek philosopher who is known as the ‘’father of history’’, said "a man who does not know anything about the events that took place before he or she was born will remain forever a child.’’ Not only was he right but one must go a step further by saying that those who refuse to learn from their history are condemned to repeating its mistakes.
In 1957, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Saurdana of Sokoto and the Premier of the North, said the following: "We the people of the north will continue our stated intention to conquer the south and to dip the koran in the Atlantic ocean after the British leave our shores."
Three years later, on 12 th October 1960, he went a step further by saying the following words to the Parrot Newspaper: “The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future”.

Story: My parents killed my brother-in-law (read)

My parents killed my brother-in-law. The story starts almost a year ago when my younger sister started dating the man who would be her future husband. They married when she was 17 last October. He had just turned 21. The marriage was consented by both parents.
The day before the murder, my mother and my brother-in-law got into an argument over the phone. It exculated and my mother starting threatening to kill him. I was with her when she started making the threats but I did not really think she would go through with it and told her to stop, to let the kids live their lives--my sister was five months pregnant. She got very angry at me and dropped me off at my apartment that day. There was a call from her later that night that upset me so my sister and her husband stayed the night because I was still very upset. The next day, my mother called, wanting stuff she had left at my apartment.
