A man identified as Gbenga Ogundana has
committed suicide in his rented apartment on Orisunmibare Street, in the
Cultural Centre area of Ondo Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
It was gathered that the man committed suicide days after losing his job.
The 33-year-old was found dead in his
room after four days of intense search. It was suspected that he killed
himself following his dismissal from the company he worked for.
On of the residents said, “Gbenga must have terminated his own life through poison after being sacked from work.”
The resident said the elder brother of
the deceased, one Segun Ogundana, visited the deceased after several
calls put to his telephone were not picked.
Segun was said to have called his
brother’s co-tenant, who helped him to force the deceased’s door open
and they saw the decomposing remains of the victim.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident.
He said the police had commenced investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding Gbenga’s death.
He added that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the State Specialist Hospital, Akure.
